Here's what I'm proposing to cover:

- Practical overview of mobile application development on CE.NET and Windows Mobile devices using VS.NET 2003 and the Compact Framework

- Development of a Sample application to demonstrate some of the pitfalls and common problems with mobile app development.

The app I'd like to develop (or at least assemble :) during the seminar would be:

"Rally Management Application"

This mobile application would be designed to act as a mobile information tool for rally car navigators. It will aggregate data from a variety of sources (GPS, MapPoint Web Services, on-board instrumentation) to provide an in-car overview of important rally information.

The application will download the waypoints and time references from a central web service. It will also update the team's progress throughout the course of a race back to that web service.

The main user interface will display such vital information on location, speed, time, distance till next waypoint, deviation from ideal track.

In order to demonstrate the use of ruggedized devices for industrial mobile apps, I'll probably use a Psion TexLogix WorkAbout Pro 7525 rugged WinCE.NET device to demonstrate the app.
